Introducing Tent.js

One package for a whole app: data, workflows, AI agents and React screens, run by one engine and checked at once.

Tent.js is an open framework for whole apps, under the MIT licence. You write tables, functions, workflows, agents and React screens as definitions, and one engine runs all of them in the same process.

Built for AI

Every function is an AI tool. Queries, actions, flows and agents become tools automatically, with typed inputs and descriptions generated from your definitions. Add one option and the same function is an MCP tool, a REST endpoint with OpenAPI, or a CLI command.

Every write records who made it, so you can roll back exactly what one agent run, API key or connected AI app changed, while everyone else's work stays.

Agents with everything around them

Make an agent in one definition. Its tools are your functions, run in the same process as your data, and the engine tells the model what each one reads and writes. Search by words and by meaning runs in one query over your own tables, under your access rules. Guards, budgets, judges and evals are parts of the same framework.

Work that does not break

Write long-running work as async functions. Each step is saved as it completes, so runs survive restarts, retry on failure, and can wait for days, with no queue to run beside them.

Fast by default

Data lives in the same process as your app, so reads skip the network. Queries are live: when data changes, every open page receives just the rows that changed. Server-only components send no JavaScript, and pages stream while slow data loads.

Get started

Terminal
npm install -g tentjs

Then read the docs, which ship with the version you run, for you and your AI.
